A traffic analysis zone (TAZ) is a special area delineated by state and/or local transportation officials for tabulating traffic-related data- especially journey-to-work and place-of-work statistics. A TAZ usually consists of one or more census blocks, block groups, or census tracts. For the 1990 census, TAZs were defined as part of the Census Transportation Planning Package (CTPP). The U.S. Census Bureau first provided data for TAZs in conjunction with the 1980 census, when it identified them as \"traffic zones.\"Traffic Analysis Zones are sometimes used as a basic unit of socioeconomic analysis in plans and studies, and are available for use in GIS. Unlike the 1970 version of Traffic Zones, this 2000 version is not included in the City's GIS summary processes supporting data warehousing and address systems.", "summary": "", "title": "Traffic Zones", "tags": [], "type": "", "typeKeywords": [], "thumbnail": "", "url": "", "minScale": 0, "maxScale": 0, "spatialReference": "", "accessInformation": "", "licenseInfo": "" }
